Nebraska will be trying to preserve its perfect in-state record when it hosts South Dakota on Wednesday night in a nonconference game in Lincoln, Neb. The Cornhuskers (4-1) are 3-0 at home and also won Friday at then-No. 14 Creighton, beating their in-state rivals on the road for the second straight time. But the last time they did that, in 2022, they followed that win with a 16-point loss at Indiana to open Big Ten Conference play. "Believe me, we've addressed a lot of things," Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg said. "A lot of people are saying some really positive things. You've got to find a way to put that behind you. I've liked how our team has responded and come back to work after that great win at Creighton." Brice Williams leads the Cornhuskers with 18.2 points per game and was one of five players in double figures against Creighton. Juwan Gary topped the list with 16. South Dakota (6-2) comes to town off a 112-50 home win Monday night over Randall, the third non-Division I school it has beat. The Coyotes' last game against a D1 opponent was Friday at Southern Indiana, resulting in a 92-83 loss. This will be South Dakota's second nonconference game against a Big Ten opponent, after a 96-77 loss at Iowa on Nov. 12. In December, the Coyotes also visit Santa Clara, hovering near the top 100 in KenPom adjusted efficiency, before jumping into Big Sky play. "The schedule is very good and that should help us," third-year South Dakota coach Eric Peterson said before the season. "We have some good nonconference games that should help prepare us for the end of the season." Nebraska has held four of its opponents to 67 or fewer points, with Saint Mary's the only one to top that number in the Cornhuskers' lone loss. Opponents are shooting 38.1 percent this season. South Dakota shot below 40 percent in its two previous games before shooting 62 percent against Randall. Isaac Bruns, who scored 20 to lead South Dakota in the Randall game, paces the Coyotes with 12.9 points per game. --Field Level MediaAs the saga continues to unfold, one thing remains clear – the case of the sheltered female master's student has sparked a contentious debate within the village, revealing the complexities of human nature and the challenges of discerning truth from fiction. By Conor Ryan The writing has been on the wall for months that Bill Belichick wants to return to coaching in the NFL ranks in 2025 and beyond. But according to multiple reports , the legendary head coach is showing genuine interest in the head coaching vacancy at the University of North Carolina. Belichick has already interviewed for the position at Chapel Hill, and has reportedly shown legitimate interest in moving onto the college ranks — especially if the Tar Heels can guarantee a succession plan where Belichick’s son, Steve, is named head coach in waiting with the program. But count Tom Brady, Julian Edelman, and Rob Gronkowski among those who can’t see their former coach move on to the collegiate ranks. Can’t get rid of us. Even in retirement. pic.twitter.com/Mh4ThKIux9 “No,” Brady, who appeared in studio alongside Edelman, Gronkowski, and the rest of the FOX NFL crew, said when asked if he could see Belichick coaching in college. “Absolutely not,” Edelman added, with Gronkowski shaking his head in agreement. “There’s a lot of things he can do, and obviously he’s tremendous, and even showing his personality,” Brady said of Belichick, who has pivoted to several media obligations this season after failing to land a head-coaching gig. “But getting out there on the recruiting trail and dealing with all these college kids.” “Can you imagine NIL,” Gronkowski added. “Could you imagine Bill on a couch, recruiting ,” Edelman asked. How well do the FOXBoROS know each other? Let's find out! @TomBrady | @RobGronkowski | @Edelman11 | @Patriots pic.twitter.com/8DPSSQPkEQ Brady then did his best impression of Belichick making a pitch to a high-school recruit. “Listen, you really wanna come here,” Brady said with a scowl on his face. “I mean we don’t really want ya anyway, but I guess you could come. We’ll figure out if you’ll play.” While Belichick’s former Patriots players aren’t buying into talk of him making the switch to college game, Belichick’s longtime friend and legendary college coach Nick Saban offered up a ringing endorsement of Belichick’s potential move to Chapel Hill. “Relationship building is not as important, not that Bill wouldn’t be good at that,” Saban said on “The Pat McAfee Show” about Belichick’s efforts in recruiting. “It’s not as important now that you pay players. I think it becomes a little bit more about the money, and the deal that you make with them. So, it is a little bit more like pro football.” “Bill’s an outstanding coach,” Saban added. “He’s very well organized. He’s a good teacher. I think he relates well with the players. I think he would do a great job in college.” Conor Ryan Conor Ryan is a staff writer covering the Bruins, Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox for Boston.com, a role he has held since 2023. Save the Earth (and the Lemon) Here’s a gift for the home chef that checks all the boxes: It’s affordable. It’s practical. And it’s better for the planet. Bee's wax food wraps are a reusable substitute for plastic wrap when you need to preserve, say, a cut lemon or cucumber, or to cover a bowl of leftovers. The wrap is made of a fabric, usually cotton, infused with food-grade beeswax, making it slightly tacky and malleable: You shape it around containers or food you want to preserve. Wash and air-dry the wrap between uses, and it will maintain its grip for about a year. At that point, it can be composted — more good for the Earth. From $12.99 at Target, 3550 Zafarano Drive. Pretty and Practical Consumable gifts are especially appreciated by older adults with too much “stuff,” and dish towels are one of our favorites in that category, especially when they convey a sense of place. Enter Kei and Molly dish towels , produced by Kei and Molly Textiles in Albuquerque. Their artisans use block prints on flour sacks to convey local and seasonal messages — peppermint candies, hot cocoa, powder skiing, winter animals, Hannukah menorahs and more. Flour sack dish towels are named after the thin cotton bags flour used to be packaged in, which were commonly washed and reused as dish towels. They are bigger and thinner than towels made of other materials but still more absorbent. And while the monochrome block prints are pretty, these towels still beg to be used again and again. $14 at Santa Fe Farmers’ Market and 11 other Santa Fe locations. Yum. Yum. And more Yum. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will not play Sunday and head coach Kyle Shanahan said the lingering discomfort is a concern. Purdy sat out Friday after he participated in the start of Thursday's practice with the 49ers, then retreated indoors for what Shanahan said was a treatment session. Brandon Allen, 32, will start in Purdy's place, and the 49ers are also without defensive end Nick Bosa (oblique). Shanahan said players believe in Allen, even if he's an unknown. "Outside of here people haven't seen a lot of Brandon. But it's his second year (with the 49ers)," Shanahan said. "Obviously guys want Brock up, but guys are excited to see Brandon play." Shanahan said they are "a little surprised" Purdy experienced tightness and discomfort in his shoulder after an MRI exam on Monday that showed no long-term cause for concern. "The way it responded this week, it's really up in the air for next week," Shanahan said of Purdy. Allen is familiar to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, who was an assistant coach with the Rams during Allen's two-year run in Los Angeles. Allen broke into the NFL in 2016 with the Jaguars and is 2-7 in nine career starts. He went 1-2 with the Broncos in 2019 and 1-5 in six starts over two years with the Bengals in 2020 and ‘21. Shanahan said Allen's confidence grew throughout the week and he doesn't anticipate a major change in how he calls the offense. Left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) also missed practice for the third consecutive day. Without disclosing the nature of the ailment to Purdy's throwing shoulder, general manager John Lynch confirmed Friday an MRI exam took place to determine the severity of any injury. Allen worked with the first team most of Thursday and Friday with Joshua Dobbs also taking snaps. Lynch described Purdy's status for the 49ers (5-5) this week as "tenuous." "Hopefully, he makes progress, and we can have a shot at this weekend, but we'll see," Lynch said in an interview with KNBR in San Francisco. "I think it's tenuous." When Purdy was on the field this week, he primarily worked on the side in position-specific drills with QB coach Brian Griese. Williams played through an ankle injury last week after being listed as questionable but exited the stadium with an exaggerated limp on Sunday. Run game coordinator Chris Foerster said the 49ers aren't where they want to be at 5-5 because they haven't won close games, not because of injuries. "Seven games left is like an eternity," Foerster said. "So much can happen. Do the math. What was our record last year? It was 12-5. I was on a 13-win team that was nowhere near as good as the team last year." With or without Purdy, Foerster said the challenge for the 49ers is not to give up the ball to a defense that has 19 takeaways. The 49ers have 13 giveaways this season. --Field Level MediaThe "Spring Dawn Plan" represents a new era of collaboration between manufacturers and merchants within industrial belts. One potential avenue for both Real Madrid and Manchester City to explore is the option of looking within La Liga for potential transfer targets. The Spanish top-flight is home to a wealth of talent, ranging from young prospects to established stars, who could potentially bolster the squads of the two clubs. However, the competitive nature of La Liga and the reluctance of clubs to sell to direct rivals may complicate matters for both Real Madrid and Manchester City. Additionally, the inflated transfer fees within the Spanish market could further hinder their pursuit of suitable players.Title: A 90s Young Man from Shenyang Resigns for Love and Sells Ice Cream in Wuhan
