Two Aussies are among the six pedestrians injured in New York City on Christmas Day, after a taxi mounted the kerb. The driver of the cab is believed to have suffered a medical episode at about 4pm on Wednesday, veering onto the kerb and into a group of people walking in Herald Square, according to local media. A nine-year-old Australian boy and his mother were both pinned beneath the vehicle. One eyewitness reported to CBS News that the boy’s leg was trapped underneath a tyre as it was spinning, with he and several other pedestrians working together to free the pair of Aussie tourists. Footage of the rescue has since been shared to social media. The boy is now in hospital where he is being treated for injuries to his thigh.
